Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are co-educational residential schools established by the Government of India, spread across 27 states and 8 Union Territories. Admissions to Class VI are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST). The
medium of instruction up to Class VIII is the mother tongue or regional language and thereafter, it is English for Mathematics and Science, and Hindi for Social Science. The schools are fully financed by the government, and education including board, lodging, uniform, and textbooks is free.
However, a sum of Rs. 600/- per month is collected from students of Classes IX to XII towards Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, except for students belonging to SC/ST categories, all girl students, and students from families below the poverty line (BPL). For wards of government employees, Vikas Nidhi will be charged @Rs.1500/- per month or actual children education allowance received by the parent per month whichever is less, but VVN shall not be less than Rs.600/- per student per month.
Age Criteria for Exam
- For class 6th: The candidate should be born between 01 April 2011 to 30 March 2013 (Both Dates inclusive)
- For class 9th: The candidate should be born between 01 April 2008 to 30 March 2010 (Both Dates inclusive)
- For class 11th: The candidate should be born between 01 April 2006 to 30 March 2008 (Both Dates inclusive)
Eligibility Criteria for Exam
In this section candidates can find below the JNV Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria for the Class 6th and Class 9th:
- For Class 6th and 9th the candidate must be studying in class 5th and 8th class respectively.
- The rural quota is considered only when the candidates have studied classes III, IV, and V in a rural area school.
- Candidates are not allowed to appear for the test for the second time irrespective of the circumstances.
